General Assembly (GA)
The General Assembly is a massive council comprised of all 193 Member States of the UN. The GA has been a forum for lofty declarations, sometimes audacious rhetoric, and rigorous debate over the world’s most vexing issues, including poverty, development, peace, and security. As the most representative organ of the United Nations, the assembly holds a general debate in the organization’s New York headquarters from September to December and convenes special sessions at other times to address a range of issues.

Security Council (SC)
The United Nations Security Council is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations and is charged with ensuring international peace and security, recommending the admission of new UN members to the General Assembly, and approving any changes to the UN Charter.

United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)

Human Rights Council (HRC)
The United Nations Human Rights Council is a United Nations body whose mission is to promote and protect human rights around the world. The Council has 47 members elected for staggered three-year terms on a regional group basis. The headquarters of the Council are at the United Nations Office at Geneva in Switzerland.

United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)
The UNODC was established in 1997 as an office for drug control and crime prevention. The council has headquarters in Vienna Austria, and specifically focuses on illicit substance abuse and trafficking, preventing crime, criminal justice, international terrorism and political corruption. It is a newer council, but plays an instrumental role in reducing drug related issues and general crime around the world.

International Court of Justice (ICJ)
The International Court of Justice is the primary judicial organ of the United Nations. The ICJ deals with tasks such as settling disputes between member states in accordance with international law, and providing advisory opinions on international legal issues. The rulings of the council act as primary sources of international law.
